Artwork guidelines & FAQ

Everything you need for great-looking prints.

Setting up print-ready artwork

Bleed
Extend backgrounds and photos past the trim line (usually 1/8 in.). Printers cut at the trim line, and bleed prevents thin white edges.
Safe zone
Keep text and logos at least 1/8 in. inside the trim line (more on banners). The designer shows it as a blue dashed line.
Resolution
Use images that are 300 DPI at print size for small items, 100-150 DPI for banners and signs. The designer warns you when an image is too small.
File types
PDF is best. PNG, JPG, SVG and AI/EPS also work. Outline fonts or embed them in PDFs.
Colors
Screens show RGB, presses print CMYK, so very bright blues and greens can look slightly different on paper. For exact brand colors, tell us your Pantone numbers.
Screen printing
Price depends on the number of ink colors. Simple artwork with solid colors prints best. Full-color photos are printed as DTF transfers.

Frequently asked questions

How long will my order take?

Each product shows its production time (usually 3-5 business days, about 10 for screen printing). Shipping time is added after production. Need it sooner? Request a quote and tell us your deadline.

Will someone check my file before it prints?

Yes. Every order gets a free file check by our team. If something looks off, like low-resolution images or text too close to the edge, we contact you before printing.

How do reorders work?

Sign in, open Orders & reorders, and press Reorder. The same artwork and options go back in your cart at today's price. You can also change the quantity before checkout.

Can I design something without an account?

Yes. Your designs are kept in this browser. Create a free account any time and everything you made moves into it.

Do you charge sales tax?

We collect Michigan sales tax on orders shipped to Michigan addresses. Tax-exempt organizations can request a quote and send their exemption certificate.

What if something is wrong with my order?

Contact us at hello@cmiprint.co within 14 days of delivery with a photo. If it's a printing error on our side, we reprint it or refund you.
